If you will be going to cosmetology school, then there are several important cosmetology terms that you will need to learn.

10 Common Cosmetology Terms

Below are 10 of the most common cosmetology terms:

Esthetics is also known as aesthetics. In the world of cosmetology, the definition of esthetics is the theory of beauty. It can also refer to a treatment or style that is designed to bring out a person’s looks and assets.

Cosmetics

Any ingredient, product, treatment or substance that is designed to improve the appearance of something can be defined as a cosmetic. Cosmetic products are typically applied topically and can be brought over-the-counter.

A bang is a layer of hair that is located close to the forehead. It is cut a-lot shorter than the rest of the hair.

Natural

The term natural is often used interchangeably with the word organic in the world of cosmetology. However, it is important to note that the two do not mean the same thing. Products that have a natural label are made up of all natural ingredients. Organic products are made up of ingredients that are grown organically.
