Summer is the time for sun, sea, surf and sky, so kick off your shoes, go slip on something comfortable and try out these fun summer hairstyles for women. These styles are easy to do, require minimal hair product use and can go from day to night in a jiffy.
5 Women Hairstyles for Summer
For this summer, here are 5 classic hairstyles with a twist for added interest and an updated look:
Pull hair to a high ponytail for a neck and back-baring look and tame the frizz with some styling cream. Hair will bounce and sway as you move or run. For a sleeker, tamer look, pull and tie hair to a low ponytail at the nape and secure with an elastic band.
The braid is a very flexible summer hairstyle. It can be be simple, playful and trendy (such as the fishtail braid) or refined and elegant (such as the goddess braid). For a simple, day wear, gently pull hair from the face and plait neatly, tying the ends with an elastic band.
You could also create a halo braid by tightly plaiting sections of hair to the sides, wrapping the braid over the middle of the head and securing it in place with a pin. The goddess braid is similar to the halo braid, except that goddess braids typically tie back all the hair for a clean, neck-revealing hairstyle.
The bun may conjure images of prim and proper ladies who lunch but it is a staple of summer. It’s easy to do and can go from morning to evening with only a few styling changes. Sweep hair back with oil for a shiny finish then bring hair to the top and twist to form a bun. Secure with pins.
The Faux Bob
Got the perfect length of hair and not willing to cut it? You can still wear a short style like the Faux Bob. Curl hair, then part on one side, tuck the ends upwards and pin to the head to produce the appearance of a short, flirty bob. For a bit of glam, make a deep part, tie hair about an inch from the tips, roll up the tail and secure with a pin. Move the hair to one side to cover one ear. Set with a styling mist or spray.
Long-and-loose can be lush, simple, enigmatic and quite stunning for summer. Start by wrapping the ends of the hair to a curling iron or large curlers. Let loose for full, beautiful bounce. For summer evenings, do a sideswept cascade. Make soft curls, then sweep hair to one side, tucking it behind the ear for emphasis and allowing the ends to rest in front of one shoulder. Secure with pins and mist with a medium-hold spray.
