Once you’ve finished school and gained the skills needed for success, it can still be difficult to know where to start. You’ve got what it takes to make it big, but how do you market yourself and apply these skills? First breaking into your desired beauty profession is often the hardest step, but you can help get yourself noticed in the industry. Follow these tips to better your chance to reach your dream.

In today’s world, technology is such an important part of the equation. With the internet at the tip of our fingers, most people are using this resource when searching new styles, looking for a service, or just browsing for fun. Make sure your name is top of mind in your community by:

 

  • Building your social media channels. This includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest primarily for beauty professionals. Make sure your pages are professional, and show your style and talent. More than anything these pages should be a portfolio for you, showcasing the great work you are capable of.

  • Network with those around you. You can build relationships even with the people you may not directly work with.   • Associate with others. Because the beauty industry is constantly changing, it is important to rub shoulders with the experts, becoming a leader yourself. Keep up to date on how styles are changing, and what needs to be done to keep up with these new looks.
