Four Tips For Motivating Students as a Student Instructor
As a student instructor, you have the responsibility of motivating your students so that they work up to their full potential. This is not always an easy task, but there are a number of things that you can do to motivate your students.
Tips For Student Instructors
Below are some tips that will help you motivate your students:
Use A Variety of Teaching Tools
It is important to remember that every student learns in a different way. There are auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners. Auditory learners enjoy listening to long lectures because that is the easiest way for them to absorb information.
Visual learns enjoy looking at graphs, charts and other illustrations. Kinesthetic learners have to actively participate in the lesson in order to learn something. In order to ensure that every student gets the most out of the lesson, you should use a variety of teaching styles.
Vary Your Teaching Environment
Most students get tired of sitting in a classroom all day every day. That is why you should consider taking your students on a field trip. You can take your students to the library or an actual salon. You can also take them to a hair or makeup show. Your students will not only learn, but they will also have fun while doing it.
Give Your Students Rewards for Doing Well
This may seem elementary, but everyone likes to be rewarded when they do something good. When your students do well on a test or presentation, you should reward them. You can take them out for lunch or have a class party. When a student is rewarded for doing something good, he or she will naturally want to keep doing it. Rewarding your students will not only benefit them, but it will also benefit you. You will get more satisfaction knowing that your students are working up to their full potential.
Do Not Be Afraid to Change Up The Material
You have a curriculum to go by, but that does not mean that you cannot change up the material. Changing up the material will challenge students who are already working up to their full potential. It will also motivate the students who may be slacking off to work a little bit harder.
