Beauty School Scholarships
There are several organizations that offer beauty school scholarships, similarly, most beauty schools also offer some form of financial aid to their students. Listed below are some of the organizations that offer beauty school scholarships.
The National Coalition of Esthetics Association (NCEA) Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded in the form of a $1,000 grant to eligible students while attending school for estheticians. The primary qualifications are to be at the mid-point in your training and to maintain both an 80% attendance and grade point average. The application process includes an application, with a one-page essay. The essay is to detail your motivation to be an esthetician and your financial need. The application times are quarterly on the first of March, June, September and December. Each winning recipient is contacted personally.
The Joe Francis Hair care Scholarship
Joe Francis was the founder of The Barbers Corporation and the Regis Companies. The Joe Francis Haircare Scholarship Foundation was established to recognize the life achievements of Mr. Francis and his work in the beauty industry. The Foundation has awarded over $196,000 in scholarships, with 26 $1,000 awards to students in 2012. You are eligible to apply for a scholarship if you are currently a student or actively seeking admission to a cosmetology school. You must submit an application between the first of January and the first of June. The application process is straightforward and includes the completion of the provided application, a one-page essay that establishes your interest in a career in cosmetology, your financial need and a bit of your family history. The application also requires that you provide one or two personal letter of recommendation.
The Minerva Beauty Scholarship
Minerva and the Professional Beauty Association now offer the Minerva Beauty Scholarship. A total of five $1,000 scholarships are available annually to currently enrolled cosmetology students. Winning the scholarship also grants a one-year Student Membership with the PBA. The basic qualification is completion of one year of school while maintaining at least a 3.0 grade average. There is a standard application to complete and the need to submit the transcript from your first year of school. In addition, you will need to complete a one-page essay and include a letter of recommendation from a profession cosmetologist. All applications must be in by May 31st each year, with awards made by July 15.
