How to Present Yourself to Clients

One of the most important things you can learn in hair school is how to present yourself to clients. This will not only help to bring you in business once you are on your own as a hairstylist, but it will encourage clients to come back. Make sure that your clients have the best experience when coming to you, no matter if it is for a simple trim, or a color. You will find the path to success easier to obtain when you present yourself in the best possible way to your clients.

A positive attitude

Being positive in your experiences will have one of the biggest effects on your clients. Nobody wants to sit and listen to you complain while they are trying to relax getting their hair taken care of. Instead be positive about yourself, and others around you.

Your facial expressions will say a lot about you, and the work you do. Be sure to be encouraging to your clients, always smiling when you can. The great training and skills you have acquired won’t mean nearly as much if you don’t show yourself in a positive light. Be friendly with your clients, and they will look forward to the time they get to spend with you.

Your style

Even the best hair stylist won’t be trusted if they themselves don’t have very much style in their appearance. This is one profession where doing your hair, makeup, and choosing the best outfit is important. You want to present yourself in such a way that those who trust you with their own style will feel confident.

Make sure that you get your own hair done by someone you trust. Many hairstylists exchange haircuts and colors for their own, making it easier for the job to get done. Be sure that you choose a style that looks professional, and will help clients feel confident in your abilities.

One of the most important characteristics of a hairstylist is their ability to listen to the client. Some clients come in knowing exactly what they want out of their hair, others are indecisive about which style they should stick to. Know when to give advice to your clients, and when to keep your own opinion to yourself.

Learn the most effective ways to present yourself to your clients. This will ensure you will have more success in the hair industry, and keep clients coming back to you time and time again. Be sure to employ a positive attitude, look the part, and listen to your clients.
