Over half the battle in choosing any kind of school is knowing what you want to do and what kind of vocation would allow that joy to blossom to its full potential. So, if you know you want to go to cosmetology school, that’s excellent! Cosmetology school allows for a lovely career styling hair, makeup, and tending to other beauty concerns and consultations. Working in a salon will give you the chance to practice your passion with a community of others in the field, and develop rapport with clients. So, what should you consider when choosing a cosmetology school?
- Your schedule. Do you want to go to school full-time or part-time? Do the times that classes are offered fit with the other things that are going on in your life? Work-life balance is important to succeed at either one of those categories, and we at Avalon want you to be able to practice your creativity and craft when timing works out.
- Job placement. Once you’re done with school, of course you want to be able to apply the expertise you’ve learned. Learning a craft is like learning a language; you need to use it to keep fluent. There’s plenty of hair styling jobs out there, so it’s best to choose a school that balances teaching with experiencing hands-on creativity and skill. At Avalon, we take career placement as a top priority and many of our students get jobs right after graduation.
- Class size. Our cosmetology school offers smaller class sizes because in this field, a key element of learning is hands-on training. We combine spoken instruction with showing and doing. Classes need to be small in order to provide the necessary attention each student deserves.
- Cost. Another appealing aspect of cosmetology school is that it pays for itself and then some as you have a rewarding career afterward.
